Public Meeting on NW Light Rail Extension Plans for the Northwest Extension of the METRO light rail system are 65% complete. The 3.2-mile extension will run northward from Christown Spectrum Mall along 19th Avenue, ending at Dunlap Avenue. You and your neighbors are invited to a public meeting on May 14 or 15 to discuss the project. See the flier. Nominations Sought for Business Recognition Sunnyslope Village Alliance is seeking nominations for its annual Business Recognition Dinner. They will be honoring members of the community who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to improving the Sunnyslope Business Community. Nominations are due June 15. Learn more. Sunnyslope Art Walk Back by Popular Demand After the tremendous success of the April 12 Sunnyslope Art Walk, organizers have committed to coordinating a second event this Fall. Mark your calendars and plan to attend on the second Saturday in October (10/11). Artist applications are currently being accepted for the Fall event and are due no later than Friday, August. 8. Bulk Trash Collection Nears Completion The City of Phoenix picks up bulk trash (or uncontained trash) quarterly. It is a violation of City ordinance to place bulk trash out more than one week before the published collection start date. Most of Sunnyslope is in area 8 (homes bounded by Central, Dunlap, 12th St. and Northern, for example are in area 9). Collection has been completed in area 8 and is currently underway in area 9.
